Normal Collar

The nylon collars are also softer, and very light. The leather collar will become hard and uncomfortable, and can crack and become weak, a sudden jerk could cause the collar to snap.

  • Make sure you have a name tag containing the dogs name and address
  • Check the name tag or engraving to make sure it can still be read
  • Test the 'D ring' frequently to make sure it is strong
  • If your Scotty shows any allergic reaction to the collar, remove it and consult a vet.
  • Adjust the collar periodically as your Scotty grows.
  • Test the collar to make sure it is not to tight, or too slack.

As a very rough guide, I am able to put 6 fingers behind Bobby and Scamps collar,  this collar is for 'Show' only  as I always use a harness when out walking.
