FrodoA five year old pug dog became the first animal to enter the UK using the new passport for pets. Frodo Baggins travelled from France to the UK on the channel ferry today Monday February 28th, The little black dog passed through immigration checks at the French port with a passport. The owner and dog boarded at 12:30am French time and arrived in the UK at 1:10 GMT as the first animal to use the new pet passport scheme.
Frodo's owner Ms de Borchgrave said he is a very happy dog. Also arriving on the same day at 9:00am were three Labradors and at 10:26 the first train carrying pets was due to arrive. Under the new scheme dogs from 21 European countries will be allowed into the UK without going into quarantine.
